Montréal, March 25 th , 2026 - Ostéopathie Québec welcomes the announcement by the Minister responsible for the application of professional laws, Mr. Jean Boulet, initiating work toward the regulation of osteopaths within Québec’s professional system. This will make osteopathy the 57th regulated profession in Québec. The organization wishes to thank the Minister for this pivotal decision, which marks a significant milestone in a matter it has long championed.
Since the publication of the favourable opinion issued by the Office des professions du Québec in 2022, Ostéopathie Québec has remained firmly committed to advance this situation. Over the past few years, the organization has continuously engaged with government authorities, supported by the ongoing mobilization of its members. This collective effort has always been grounded in a clear objective: to protect the public by promoting rigorous regulation based on recognized competencies and safe practices.
This perseverance within the profession reflects osteopaths’ determination to fully contribute to a credible professional system, for the benefit of patients across Québec.
Today’s announcement acknowledges the importance of structuring the profession and providing better regulation for a practice widely used by the Quebec’s population. It also paves the way for improved integration of osteopathy within the healthcare professional system.
